What You Need To Know About Internet Marketing

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

Learning is almost an impossible feat without asking questions. Those who realize they don’t know everything, will be more willing to learn from their own personal experiences which will as a result give them an extra nudge in the right direction to establishing a successful online business. Here I will present to you, three of the most popular questions that are asked consistently, people are always looking for the answer to them. The answers are a direct result of years of experience and have proven to be worthwhile information.

For those new to online businesses, these questions and answers I present to you, will help you avoid the mistakes that most others have made, and give you a clue as to what path may prove to be the most optimal. As for those existing business owners, it’s always important you make it your business to keep learning. You can always implement new ideas, and keep yourself up to date with what is going on in the business world. You never know, maybe you’ll discover an idea that will take your business to new heights.

Question 1: How do I improve my Search Engine Rankings?

Your first process should involve optimizing your website for the search engines. After this, you should make it a priority to continually increase the amount of backlinks pointing towards your website. Write articles and make sure you hyperlink your keyword phases in your article. You can apply the same linking method in your forum signatures as well.

Question 2: Are there effective methods of getting targeted visitors to my site for free?

This is a common question asked among internet marketers. Everyone wants to stick to a fairly modest and affordable budget, to save as much money as possible, so if there’s some method of achieving traffic for free, then why not? Some of the most effective methods of driving traffic to your site (in my experience) are free. Forum posting, blogging, article marketing, as well as submitting your site link to web directories are just a few of some of the most popular methods. The effects of this type of traffic generation can take quite a while to kick in, however it’s important to note that you are creating links to your site that will ultimately end up working for you well into the future. They are not methods that work for a short pace of time and then just disintegrate. Once an article of yours is in an article bank, it can be read by viewers for years to come.

Question 3: I have an internet business that I have been operating for a month, but I am yet to see an income from it yet.

Two words that you should keep in mind when running an online business and that’s persistence and consistency. It not only takes time to build a successful online business, but will take literally weeks and weeks of persistent and consistent work to build a business from literally nothing and expect it to start making profits. A true internet business model that can be classified as a legitimate one is one that has proven to work by others who are making money online and one that works for yourself if you take the time and effort to utilize those methods by operating an online business like a real business and not just a pastime hobby.

Take as much time as you can to learn from other internet entrepreneurs and you can quickly establish yourself. If you keep in mind that you can never know too much in the internet business world, you will continue to learn and grow and will see your business flourish as a direct result of that.

Why Page Rank Is Important In Building Traffic

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

Google Page rank (correctly PageRank) is important in building traffic to your website for a number of reasons. Before we discuss why, here is quick heads up on how it works.

Page Rank is based on links between your site and other sites, in fact specifically between web pages, since it is links between individual pages rather than complete websites that interests Google. That is because Google lists individual pages and not domains. There is a formula that Google uses to determine the value of each link to your site, which is based on the PageRank of the web page providing the link and also the number of other links leaving that page.

You can see the page Rank in the Google PageRank bar on the Google Toolbar – it is the green bar that shows a numerical value of 0 to 10 when you hover your cursor over it. This value is logarithmic, which means that if it takes 10 links to reach PR 1, then it takes a lot more to reach 2. If Google uses a logarithmic factor of 8, as it might do (nobody knows), then it will take 8 links to your site to get to PR 1, 64 to reach PR 2, 512 to PR 3 and so on. This is very basic, since, as I have stated, it also depends on the PR of the page providing the link and the number of other links leaving that page.

Here are the top 4 reasons that in my opinion help most to generate traffic and make you money:

1. The higher your Google PageRank, then the higher Google is likely to list you in the search engine results pages. Google take the view than the more other websites link to yours, then the more relevant your web page must be to the topic in hand, otherwise they wouldn’t link to you. In fact, the links are to specific pages in your site, not to the site as a whole, which is why it is called ‘Page Rank’ and not Site Rank.

2. The higher the Page Rank, then the more relevant other people will consider any particular page on your website to be. They will feel more confident that if they visit your site they will have their questions answered and find the information they are looking for.

3. A high Page Rank shows that you have a high number of links on the pages of other websites. There is then the possibility of others clicking on these links to get to your website.

4. The higher your Page Rank, then the more people will want you to link to their website. That means that they too will be likely to visit your site. They will also offer you a reciprocal link if you want one, and that too will provide you with more exposure online.

There are some factors you should keep in mind that could affect your Page Rank. The way your domain name is presented is very important. Take at look at these domains:

www.mydomain.com, www.mydomain.com/index.html, domain.com, domain.com/index.html

They are all different URLs that will lead somebody using them to your domain. However, search engine spiders see them all as different URLs, and if you use different ways to write your home page URL, then they will all be listed separately, and all be given a different Page Rank. Thus, the page rank for any one of them will be weaker than your page would have been if you had used only the one way to express it. Get into the habit of expressing your domain in only one way.

There are other ways in which poor use of your website URLs and also injudicious linking policies, can harm your Page Rank, but the main point that should keep in mind is that the your page rank applies to each page individually, and you get a share of the Google PageRank of the page that provides you with the link. If that page has a PR of zero, then you get nothing.

In giving my reasons for page rank being important in building traffic, I should stress that it is not one my more important ways of building traffic. However, Google takes notice of your PageRank, otherwise why would it bother giving you a Page Rank in the first place. For that reason alone it is well worth building up as many links back to your webpages as possible, not just for the traffic, but also to keep your website in the public eye.

It is the Home Page that is highest listed on most search engines, and also the page is given the highest PageRank, so if you can persuade others to link to your home page in return for a link from a page internal to your site, then that would be a good deal, and is what you should be trying for.

Don’t ask me though, because I would a link back from your highest Page Ranked page!

Page Rank is an important property of your website, and for more information on internal and external linking strategy check out Pete?s website Improved Search Engine Rank where you will find many other SEO tips.

How I Make $100 A Day Selling Tickets On Ebay…

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

I’m about to share the method that makes me, BY FAR, the most money online. It’s so simple that you can make money right after reading this article…

I don’t deal with inventory, online storefronts, answering millions of emails. I just buy tickets to popular events and sell them on Ebay for many times what I paid.

It’s a lot easier to make quick money doing this than many think. Ebay even has a dedicated section for selling tickets at http://tickets.ebay.com

If you follow the steps outlined below YOU WILL MAKE MONEY.

First of all, how does this work? If a concert is so popular, then how is it possible to get tickets that someone would be willing to pay 2x for a few days later? Well, the simple reason is that many people are impulse buyers and are willing to pay for that.

Think about the recent Hannah Montana concert in LA. If you waited for the second they went on sale (or pre-ordered - I’ll show you how later), you could have gotten tickets for $65. But what about the father of two daughters who have been begging him to go to this concert for weeks and now it’s sold out…what does he do? He buys them on Ebay from you for $300 a piece. It’s that simple and believe me it works!

I know it seems too simple to work but there are SO MANY people out there in a similar situation that are willing to pay extra for getting ’sold out’ tickets. The trick is - you just have to get to them first.

Now on to specifics….

POPULARITY OF THE EVENT:

This seems obvious but it’s not. Obviously, you want to get tickets for the biggest shows but ALSO try to buy tickets to bands that are only playing 1 show in your area. If a band is hugely popular but playing 5 shows in your area tickets won’t sell as quickly OR for as much. Also, keep in mind local bands. These can be the best sources of ticket revenue for you. For example, noone outside of Boston knows who the band Guster is, but their shows ALWAYS sell outbecause they are HUGELY popular in New England.

SIZE OF THE VENUE:

There are some super-popular events that are in huge venues. This is an important pointto consider. A concert at Madison Square Gardens - even if it is “sold out” - has a lothigher probability of there being tickets on ebay so you might not make as much money as if you were selling a ’sold out’ concert at a much smaller venue.

Getting the ticket…The best way of actually getting tickets to these high-demand event is during ‘presales’.Presales are not for the general public but only those people that have been givenaccess by someone with the presale password. This is meant for friends and family of people that work for the venue, etc.

However…it is possible to get these presale passwords….and this is the most important tip I’m about to share…

On fatwallet.com or talktix.com you can find these presale passwords…for free. Also, alot of timesyou can “sign up” to get presale passwords by calling your local radio station. OR the website of the band will have mailing lists you can join that will give you these codes. And, of course…you can get (and sell) presale passwords on Ebay (another easy source of income).

Fake “Sold Outs”

Alot of times ticketmaster will display an online message saying that tickets are sold out. 9/10 times this is FAKE. They call this “fake drops” and it’s meant to create a sense of urgency around the event in hopes of selling tickets faster. Keep trying to get tickets and, like I said, 9 out of 10 times you’ll get them.

In Conclusion…

If you follow these tips, you can make money RIGHT NOW selling tickets on Ebay. Heck, you can even sell the presale codes! So go make some money before the day is done…and check out auctions-traffic.com for a TON of FREE articles on making money…

2 Years ago I was working 60 hours a week for a Fortune 500 company. I decided I would try everything to make enough passive income to leave the ‘rat race’ forever. Well, after trying alot of things that worked…and alot that didn’t…I’ve done it. Check out http://www.auctions-traffic.com to learn how.

Using Affiliates To Target Customers For Your Internet Business

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

When an internet business is trying to get their business growing and there is little to no money in the budget for advertising, as is often the case, many are learning that turning to affiliates can improve their online presence and help get the word out about their business without the high cost of running a full blown ad campaign.

Many internet businesses have found they can increase their advertising without increasing their budget for advertising by offering other websites a commission on sales they refer. There is no cost to the company until the ad produces, as opposed to traditional advertising in which the company pays for the ad without any guarantee they will see a return on their investment. When utilized correctly, affiliate marketing can bring sales to an internet business with very little effort on your part. You find an established company with a group of advertisers who then post ads on their websites. You pay a sales commission to the company for each individual sale that is made from their advertising on their site.

When an online business wants to reach a global audience, it is recommended they use the same media their internet customers use, the Internet. In a global economy such as we live in, it takes global advertising to reach the most customers. As the print and broadcast media continues to merge, there are fewer companies with which to advertise your home business, resulting in higher prices and less competition for the advertising dollar. This is another reason using affiliates can be profitable.

Affiliate programs are designed to allow companies to place ads on their affiliate sites for free. They pay a commission for the ads if a visitor to that site then goes on their website and makes a purchase. Typically this commission is on a percentage basis, and while many may not offer huge dollars, there are a few that offer much higher commissions based on the cost of the product or service being offered.

For the internet business trying to expand their offerings to the most customers possible, the use of affiliate programs can help them achieve their goal with a low initial cost. Allowing the affiliates the freedom to choose the size and style of the ads is also attractive to more affiliates as is offering a good commission that will make them want to become a productive affiliate site for advertising your internet business.

The affiliates will want to market their own site to have more visitors to send to your business. A business that has thousands of affiliates spread around the globe will have thousands of more marketing opportunities to reach a much larger audience. Most affiliates are knowledgeable of internet marketing and will focus their efforts to the best audience that may be interested in visiting their affiliated companies.

Affiliate programs are a form of advertising that are not only cost effective but easier to track since both the affiliate and the internet business can monitor which sales came from their websites. Online businesses can track this also with simple affiliate marketing software. The benefit of this is by tracking the number of visitors that come from each of your affiliates, you can reward the top producing sites beyond the basic commission if you so desire and can also ask unproductive sites to remove their ads. Choosing the most productive sites can help boost business, sales and profits for your business.

The bottom line is using affiliates to target customers for your business can also benefit you by increasing your internet presence and getting your product or service out on the internet in a highly visible way.

PPC Advertising And Your Home Business

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

One of the most effective ways for introducing a home business to the internet is through PPC advertising. If you are just beginning to promote an online store and do not have the time or patience to wait until the website rises in the search engines, this marketing technique can help. You will have to invest some money but this method provides one of the fastest opportunities for driving traffic to an internet business.

Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising has developed into one of the most popular marketing techniques on the internet. This has happened because an online business can be discovered quickly. What are PPCs? The short definition is that a designated amount of money is paid to put your website in front of millions of people in a short period of time. It is really a very simple concept that can bring potential customers to your online home business.

Every major search engine provides a Pay Per Click plan for potential internet entrepreneurs. Google has developed a very popular approach called Google Adwords while Yahoo! has created a design called Yahoo! Sponsored Search. The goal of PPC marketing is to provide an opportunity to list your site on the front pages of search engines, advertising networks and web pages immediately. This happens when an online business owner bids on keywords and phrases that are related to their home business product or service. The higher the bid, the better the placement.

Have you ever looked for a product or service on the internet? The words or phrases that are entered into the search query are referred to as keywords and phrases in PPC advertising jargon. These are what you will be bidding on. Have you noticed that when the results of the search are listed there are advertisements at the top or right side of the pages? That is Pay Per Click advertising in action. If you were to click on the advertisement, the owner of that website pays the amount they bid for the keywords every time someone clicks on their ad. This is what you will be paying for.

The bottom line is that you are going to pay for having an online business listed at or near the top of these web pages. Unfortunately, a click on a link does not mean that you are going to make a sale. The good news is that you can promote your home business on the front pages of Google, Yahoo!, MSN and other major websites very quickly. The bad news is that PPC marketing can become very expensive if you don’t do your homework. Here are some guidelines that can help.

Do Your Homework

If you are not familiar with Pay Per Click marketing, research is where to begin. There is an enormous amount of good information about this subject on the internet. Block out a Saturday on your calendar, make a pot of coffee, grab a pen and paper and sit down in front of the computer. Go to your favorite search engine and enter “Pay Per Click Advertising” into the search box and start taking notes. Google and Yahoo! provide a wealth of helpful information.

Create A List Of Keywords

Think about the product or service that your home business sells. Consider the specific keywords and phrases that YOU would use if searching on the internet for that product. Do an actual search. You will develop additional ideas for how internet surfers might look for that product or service. Remember to write down the words and phrases you are using and discovering. Try to create a list of 30-50 words or phrases.

Another good resource is an online keyword suggestion tool. There are several of these websites on the internet. Type in a word or phrase in their search box and you will discover how many times it has been looked for. This is a great instrument for narrowing down your keyword list. Thousands of people looking for a term may indicate a high demand but it also might reveal a phrase that has a lot of bidding competition. Try to narrow your list down to 10-15 words and phrases.

Choose Your PPC Site

The foundation for understanding PPC advertising has been laid and the list of keywords is in your hand. Every Pay Per Click website will have a different set of guidelines to get you started. Read their information and make sure you comprehend how their system works. Some general information has already been found through your initial research but learning the nuts and bolts of their operation is essential. Don’t worry! They will be able to answer all of your questions

This is probably what you can expect from most sites:

a) Set up an account and how you will be paying for your campaign.

b) Research your keyword list on their site and observe the bids.

c) Start small by bidding for 2-3 terms on your list.

d) Write a brief description of your product or service and be compelling.

e) Decide where to send potential customers through your links.

f) Initiate your advertisements.

Monitor The Results

PPC marketing is not a set it and forget it tool. You must purpose to analyze the statistics every day. Keep a close eye on your bids. It will take time to learn the process of bidding correctly. Test your ads to determine what sales copy is delivering the most visitors. Study the numbers and see what the visitors are doing on your website. The most important statistic is the conversion rate. This information will tell you what percentage of visitors are becoming customers. Keep a close track on how much you are spending for advertising compared to the sales that are being generated. Always be prepared to adjust and test.

Can Pay Per Click advertising work? Yes, if it is done correctly. The best way to make money online is to read the directions. If you are willing to do the homework and make a commitment of your time, it can happen. PPC marketing can be another effective tool for creating the success of your home based business. The resources are in place. The work is up to you.

College Students Making Money Online With Internet Marketing

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

With internet marketing gaining in popularity, more and more people are realizing that once you look past the plethora of scams and get-rich-quick schemes that glut the industry, anyone armed with the right information can use Internet Marketing to create a stable side income, work from home full time, or make a few extra bucks by working a couple of hours a week.

One segment of the workforce that can really benefit from Internet Marketing is students wanting to make some money to help them get through college without relying on loans or their family’s money.

With Internet Marketing maturing and legitimate information becoming more widely available, the purveyors of the scams and shams are being pushed

aside by those offering real opportunities to make money online.

Students who are savvy enough to avoid the scams are finding that internet marketing is both easy and fun, and a great way to make money without having to resort to flipping burgers or tending bar.

Students are embracing Internet Marketing as a source of income because:

1. The hours are flexible, the work can be done at any time of day or night. The demand on an Internet Marketers time is set by the person themselves, not by an employer. If a student wishes to work 5 hours one week, and 20 the next, and 2 the following week, there is no restrictions.

2. The earning potential is virtually unlimited, and based only on how much time and effort the student wishes to put in. Some students may be happy to work 4 hours a week and make $100, while others may want to devote more time, and therefore make more cash.

3. The aspects some in the industry see as difficult, such as researching and article writing, are second nature to most students, and this aspect of the work is exponentially easier than writing a paper for school, something students do on a weekly basis.

4. The huge range of services available to promote through marketing techniques means students can promote products or services in line with their interests, and can reach the customer with more legitimacy than traditional marketers due to their genuine interest in the topics.

5. The most effective techniques in Internet Marketing, such as writing articles, blogging and building web pages are free to implement, so students can start earning with no initial investment.

6. Students are often more familiar with the new wave of marketing tools than the marketing gurus themselves. This is especially true of tools such as social networks (Myspace, Facebook) Blogging (Blogger, Wordpress) and social bookmarking (Digg, StumbleUpon)

7. Internet Marketing is no longer a black art, the information needed to succeed at the various aspects of Internet Marketing is widely available, and many online communities exist to help marketers of all levels, from newbies to experts.

Students looking to create a real income working online should investigate Internet Marketing as a viable option for doing so. Avoid the scams and over-hyped products and seek out the real deal information, and you can create a real online job that will fit around your study schedule.

Which Type Of Web Hosting Is Right For You?

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

When is comes to web hosting, you have many options to choose from. Depending on the type of website you want to build, you can choose from free web hosting, standard web hosting, shared web hosting, dedicated web hosting, or co-location web hosting. For those who are unfamiliar with some of these options, deciding which host to choose can be daunting and time consuming.

Free Web Hosting

If you want to create a personal web page or a small website for non-business use, then free web hosting is a good option. Instead of paying monthly fees, you agree to allow the service to post online ads on your site. While you have no control over the types of ads, free web hosting is an option for those who have a small budget or those who want to test their website first before investing money in a more expensive web host service.

Standard Web Hosting

Most web hosting services that cater to small and medium businesses fall into this category. Unlike free web hosts, you will have to pay a start-up fee and a monthly fee to use the services provided by the host. There is a wide array of features available through these types of web hosts. Common features include:

· Website creation tools

· Reports and website statistics

· 100 or more email addresses

· Free domain name

· Varying amounts of disk space, file storage and bandwidth

· Access to multiple scripts

· Ability to manage your site through a control panel

When researching standard web hosts, look carefully at what they have to offer. Some offer different monthly packages that contain more features than others.

Dedicated Web Hosting

If you don’t want to share a server with other websites, you can choose a dedicated web hosting service or a web host that provides these types of options. While this will cost more each month, you will have more control over the server. This means you can schedule maintenance, upgrades and other events at your convenience.

Shared Web Hosting

Even though most websites that rely on standard web hosting services are stored on shared servers, many web hosting services offer ’shared web hosting’, which means you will only share a server machine with one or two other subscribers instead of hundreds.

If you’re looking for a way to reduce your risk of cyber theft or hacking, sharing a server with as few subscribers as possible can help. This service will cost more than standard web hosting.

Co-location

Co-location is similar to dedicated web hosting, except you only pay for an Internet connection and storage for your equipment. You will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining a server machine.

For those who want to have complete control over their business, co-location is the best option available. There are two types of co-location, managed and unmanaged. If your company lacks an IT department, you can turn over management responsibilities to the web host. If your company has an IT department, then you will just have to pay for the Internet connection and the storage costs.

Before you choose a web host you should take into consideration what type of web hosting you will require for your business. The type of web hosting offered is just as important as the quality of your chosen web host.

11 Winning Tips For Creating A Great Squeeze Page

Posted on April 7th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

A squeeze page is the main tool in your arsenal for building a profitable email list. It’s your first chance to build trust with your visitor. Therefore, it’s important you get it is as close to perfect as possible with the end goal to have your visitor become a subscriber. For this reason, I’ve put together my top 11 squeeze page tips to help you get fast results.

1) Your squeeze page should load fast. Avoid adding too many graphics as it will slow down the loading and you risk losing your visitor’s attention while waiting for it to load.

2) Develop a headline that grabs the readers attention. Creating a great headline doesn’t usually happen on your first try. You may need to test headlines and decide which one gets the best results.

3) Create bullet points that generate interest and desire for your visitor. Like the headline, bullet points should be tested and adjusted based on your results.

4) Experiment with long versus short squeeze pages. I have found different niches respond better to one type versus the other.

5) Create a squeeze page that looks appealing to your visitor. The cleaner you present your page the better the results. By clean, I mean the forms and tables are aligned correctly, the fonts are easy to read and the color combination of the page is pleasing to the eye. If in doubt, ask a friend to look at it and have them give you an honest first impression.

6) Make an offer to your visitor that is believable and desirable. People often will use the following statement in regards to how your offer should be presented: “make an irresistible offer that they can’t refuse”. The problem with this statement is it often leads to hype and you make an offer that you really can’t live up to. consequently, you have lost your subscriber once they realize you can’t live up to the hype you created. In addition, you lose all credibility. Make it a believable offer for something a person would want and you will get good results.

7) Design your page so the opt-in form is easy to see on your page. No matter where you subscriber is on the page they should be able to see the opt-in form. If you use a long style squeeze page, you will need more than one opt-in form on the page. Having multiple opt-in forms is good strategy if needed.

8) Everything in the wording on your page should be designed to build trust. Remember, if you are trying to build a relationship with your soon to be subscriber, you need to build trust first.

9) If you do use a graphic, keep it simple, relevant and not distracting. Some people like to use their photo on a squeeze page which can add credibility and trust.

10) Once your squeeze page is done, try a sample email through the entire process to make sure it works. Sadly, one time I set-up a campaign and got about 100 click to my page but no subscribers. Confused and my ego bruised, I checked my opt-in form and realized I made a typo in one of the last changes I made after I had tested it. The moral is to check it all out even after the slightest change.

11) Choose a quality autoresponder service that is known for a high rate of email deliverability and protects your from spam complaints.

Bonus Tip) I can’t resist and need to add a bonus tip. Consider adding privacy policies, terms and contact information at the bottom of your page. The majority of your visitors will never look at this but its presence ads credibility and trust to the subconscious mind of your visitors.

Double Bonus Tip) Since you read the whole article, I am throwing in a double bonus tip for you. The tip is: Try, Test, Tweak also known as “Triple T”. Regardless of what I tell you or anyone for that matter. Trying and Testing is the only way you will get real feedback on what works. I have had “experts” tell me one of my squeeze pages breaks all of the rules and I should change it, only to find it converts at a very high rate.

How To Become A Link Magnent

Posted on April 6th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

Links are known to be one of the ultimate boosters for webpages. Everybody knows that they are very essential if you want to increase your rankings in search engines as well as drive traffic going into your website. However, there are a lot of techniques related to it. Which one works and which doesn’t? Definitely, you don’t want to waste your time on something that will not work after all.

Start with Two Methods in Linking

If you’re basically a new site and you need to gather inbound links to ensure that you can obtain an excellent page rank during the next Google update, you may want to consider performing two methods. These are referred to as reciprocal link building and non-reciprocal link building.

Non-reciprocal or One-way Link Building

What does this mean? This only implies that you will be getting links for your website without having the obligation to link back. This is advantageous for you as you don’t have to wait for other webmasters to link to your site before you can actually gain an inbound link for your site. Second, there are a lot of unscrupulous website owners who will remove your link the minute that they realize that you already have added theirs to your site. In the end, you have not gained anything.

There are a number of ways that you can practice one-way linking. Here are some of them:

1. Article Writing. Content will always remain to be the main driving force in any website. After all, Internet users are more interested with the information that they can get from you, more than anything else. But how do you exactly gain an excellent page rank just by writing articles?

By nature, only those who are interested with your articles will likely add a link or copy your article with your link at their website. Hence, you are guaranteed that your inbound link comes from a relevant webpage or site. In turn, you will obtain a reward from search engines, who highly favor sites with a high level of relevancy.

Second, the link going to your site is one-way, which has actually more weight to search engines than reciprocal linking. If you have more inbound links going to your site, the easier it is for you to adapt to the future changes in the algorithm of search engines.

2. Submission in directories. So far, this is considered to be the easiest for the simple reason that all you need to do is to submit your link to the right category. What’s more, there are hundreds of directories that are completely free. In the end, you will obtain a permanent inbound link going to your site. Added bonus is the fact that these directories can invite traffic from their visitors.

There are actually two kinds of directories, and both have their own pros and cons. Those that are paid are being handled by major search engines, such as Yahoo. The main advantage of going for paid directories is that you will have a prominent position in the directory. Perhaps your link will appear in the topmost portion. It also doesn’t take days before you can actually find a link in their directory, which means it will not also take a long time before your pages get indexed. On the downside, it may mean that you have to spend few hundred dollars every year. Once you stopped paying, your link will be removed.

Free directories are cheap and can still provide you with inbound links. However, it may take even as long as one year before you can find your link right at their directory. This is because your website needs to be manually reviewed.

Reciprocal Link Building

There are less and less people who are into reciprocal link building perhaps for a number of reasons. First, it definitely spells hassle for anyone. It’s usually a wait-and-see attitude for some. You need to see to it first that your link is added to their website before you will add theirs to yours. It could be vice versa. Moreover, there’s a huge possibility that you will be denied of such link partnership, most especially if you approach those well-established ones. Nevertheless, reciprocal link building still works, and it may be ideal to know the strategies on how to do this right:

1. Go for relevant websites. Ask yourself, “What is it for me to link to this website?” Since search engines are after relevancy, you may like to obtain inbound links from relevant websites. They are attractive to search engine spiders, and they are extremely useful to your targeted audience.

2. Get rid of “page rank only” mentality. You’re apprehensive because you need to find similar websites with excellent PR. If you’re basically starting out, you will likely get rejected a lot of times, unless you’re really good in proving your worth. To improve your link building ability, it could be best if you settle for sites with small PR but with interesting information. During the next Google update, you will benefit from their page rank.

5 Steps To Achieve Top Search Engine Rankings

Posted on April 6th, 2008 in Internet | No Comments »

Ever since business owners have discovered the importance of websites in boosting their profits and maintain or gather new customers, they have spent a good amount of time in front of their PCs. They have been tweaking their web pages in order to conform with the SEO tricks that they are learning. On the other hand, they spend their advertising money more on pay per click campaigns than in conventional print ads in newspapers. They are also into e-mail spamming, newsletter writing, and almost every imaginable Internet advertising method. With the many techniques that you may have known by now, you will always run out of time when you’re doing Internet marketing. What should you do then? You just need to focus on these 5 huge steps to achieve top search engines rankings:

1. Get your content right. It’s already clich?, but the “content is king” approach still does wonders for search engines. This is because they prefer websites that aim to provide Internet users with quality information based on the niche that they belong to. Users, on the other hand, tend to increase your search engine rankings by adding your link at their own websites or sharing it to their friends and family members.

Nevertheless, there are some rules that you have to remember when it comes to content. Obviously, you’re not allowed to copy them verbatim from any other website, or else, you’ll be accused of plagiarism. The least thing that you can do is to at least make a rewrite. Moreover, though keywords are just as essential to attract search engine spiders, make sure that you don’t overdo it to avoid getting any penalty.

2. Choose your keywords properly. Keywords are very essential to any website. They will be your bases for ranking. That’s why it’s very important that you choose your keywords properly. If not, you may be driving the wrong audience, those who are not interested in purchasing your products or availing of your services.

Fortunately, there are different kinds of keywords tools that you can utilize when you are searching for the right keywords. Overture and Google Adwords are free for you to use. If you want something more comprehensive, you can always go for WordTracker. Judge the choice of keywords based on their popularity and the value they have to Internet users.

3. Link your pages. Links serve as guide for search engine spiders. If you want to make sure that their visit is really pleasant, then you need to link your different web pages to one another. The best option is to make use of text links, since they add relevancy to your web pages. Moreover, you can add these text links at the bottom portion of your homepage. Just focus on those pages that are very essential to your website and your visitors. Another technique is through the creation of sitemap. It will have all of the links to your web pages. As a matter of fact, it’s advisable for websites to have sitemaps. The good thing about them is that you can schedule the visit of search engine spiders to your web page update. This way, they will always find new content to index in your website.

4. Focus on the structure of sites. There are a number of people that believe that too much glitter is actually gold. That is completely untrue when it comes to SEO. Animation and Flash are usually frowned upon for two reasons. First, they don’t necessarily add value to your site in terms of SEO. Second, they can just slow down the speed during download, which, in turn, may compel Internet users to look for other websites.

What you need to concentrate on when it comes to site structures is to develop pages that are very convenient to navigate by Internet users and search engine spiders. A very good technique is to develop your pages the way that you’re going to read a book. Hence, add keywords to your top-left portion.

5. Submit your website in directories. Why should you focus on submitting your site in directories and not search engines? It doesn’t really mean that the latter is a bad move. However, as mentioned, search engine spiders will visit pages and just follow the links. If you are added in directories, you can still be found by these crawlers. Submitting in directories, not in search engines, will save you time.

There are hundreds of directories that you can find in the Internet, and though you may be tempted to submit your web pages to all of them to increase your chances, it could be best if you can seek those reputable ones. These are those that have PR3’s and up. You will benefit from their excellent search engine ranking. Nevertheless, when you’re using this technique, you must have patience as usually it may take months before you can get the result that you like. The nice thing about this is you will gain a permanent link.
